Mulkarkha Lake Trek

Perched at around 7500 feet above sea level, the Mulkarkha Lake is a natural lake tucked in a remote corner within the forests of the Himalayan foothills of Northern Bengal. In Day 1, our guests starts from Mankhim Village by car and reaches Mulkarkha Village around 05 kms. away. Here, guests stay overnight in our homestay. In Day 2, guests start their 01 km. long trek early morning from the village to the Mulkarkha Lake to witness the reflection of Mt. Kanchenjungha on its tranquil waters. Guests spend sometime on the lakeside and surrounding forests and return for breakfast. After a sumptuous traditional breakfast at the homestay, guests take the 08 km. long downhill – trek from Mulkarkha Village to Jhusing Village. This trek would take the guest through the dense forests on the fringes of Neora Valley National Park, weird Rock formations, Waterfalls and untouched villages. Located at an altitude of 5400 feet above sea level, Jhusing Village offers fabulous panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjungha, countless species of birds and only one home stay to accommodate guests.

Attractions of Mulkarkha Lake Trek

The most fascinating feature of this trek is a visit to the Mulkarkha lake, which holds the reflection of Mt. Kanchenjungha on its tranquil waters. Mulkarkha Lake is located on the edge of Neora Valley and is heaven for bird watchers, butterfly spotters, landscape photographers, wildlife enthusiasts and silence seekers. Apart from reaching the Mulkarkha Lake, the trek would also take you to Waterfalls, Rock Gardens, dense forests, untouched villages and valleys.

Accommodation at Mulkarkha Village

Our home stays in Mulkarkha Village provides basic amenities including fresh food and a hygienic place to stay. Presently, the two homestays at Mulkarkha Village can accommodate guests in their 10 rooms, out of which six rooms have attached western bathrooms and two rooms come with non-attached bathrooms. Food is essentially Indian and is served hot and fresh. The ingredients comprise locally grown vegetables and local poultry.

Presently, there is only one home stay in Jhusing. The home stay is located just on the edge of the hills and offer the majestic view of Mt. Kanchenjungha. There are 04 rooms out which two rooms have attached western bathrooms and two rooms have non attached bathrooms. Other standard facilities like cozy beds and hot water arrangements are available too. Food is essentially Indian and is served hot and fresh. The ingredients comprise locally grown vegetables, freshly caught fish from the river and local country chicken.
