Lungchok

Just 08 kms from Rongli, this new-found heaven is perfect for birdwatchers and solace seekers. You can also take village walks and learn the skills of living in harmony with nature and try bird watching in the forests and farms. Lungchok is one of the most favorable destinations within the Silk Route circuit to acclimatize before embarking on your high – altitude trip to Lungthung or Nathang.

What to see in Lungchok

This little village is flanked by lush green forest consisting of Pine and Fir trees and endless stretches of step cultivated paddy fields. Lungchok also provides onlookers with a spectacular view of Mt. Kanchenjungha. Just a few kilometers of detour from Lungchok would take you to the 45-foot high Buddha waterfall and a hanging bridge over Shokey Khola river. The lush greenery, the serene village life, the panoramic view of Mt. Kanchenjungha and rivers and waterfalls would rejuvenate you in your Silk Route trip.

Food is home cooked and served hot and essentially Indian cuisine with Chapatis and Puri-Sabjis and chicken meals. Traditional Sikkimese dishes and Momos are mostly served in the evenings.

Best time to visit Lungchok

You can visit Lungchok anytime of the year. The monsoons and pre-winter is great for the greenery while the winters offer sparkling weather and sweeping views of Mt. Kanchenjungha.
